How do I find and book a bike for my trip?

No emails, no phone calls needed from your side. We forward your request to the shop, and you receive a confirmation once the shop has approved it. We recommend photographing the bike at both pickup and return as a simple record for both sides.

What happens if the bike gets stolen during my rental?

Theft is treated as a damage event under most shop policies, with you liable for the bike's value up to the deposit or insured amount. To minimize risk: use a quality lock, never leave the bike unattended at obvious cycling spots without supervision, and ask the shop for theft prevention recommendations specific to the area. If theft occurs, file a police report immediately and notify the shop.

How do you handle my personal data?

Is booking through Ride Out Club more expensive than booking directly with the shop?

Accepted Answer

No, and this is important. We take the shop's rates 1:1 with no markup. You pay exactly what you would pay if you contacted the shop directly. What you gain is much easier discovery, full transparency on specs and pricing, and our support if anything goes wrong. We will also soon add an account feature that lets you save the bikes you have ridden, including all size and fit specifications.

How long does it take to get a booking confirmation?

Once you submit your request, we relay it to the partner shop immediately. Most shops respond within 24 to 48 hours. You will only receive a final confirmation once the shop has approved the reservation. We notify you by email as soon as it is confirmed, or flag any issues so you can choose an alternative.

Can I bring my own pedals, saddle, or other contact points?

Yes, and we recommend it for anything that touches your body or affects your data. Pedals and cycling shoes are the easiest swap. Saddles are usually fine to swap, just confirm when you book. Power meters are case by case: pedal-based transfer easily, crank-based depend on compatibility.

Yes, you can book multiple bikes in a single request. We handle the coordination, including availability, billing, and confirmation, in one flow, so you do not have to chase separate confirmations for each rider. We are also working on a feature that will make group bookings even easier, allowing each rider to configure their own bike and submit everything together as one request.

What should I bring when renting a bike?

Beyond the basics (valid ID, payment card), the difference between a good rental experience and a great one comes down to your personal contact points. Here is what experienced cyclists bring:

- Your own saddle: the single biggest comfort upgrade. Most shops will let you swap it in, just confirm when you book.
- Pedals and cycling shoes: pedal compatibility varies between bikes, so it is not worth gambling on cleat systems. Bringing your own shoes is also more hygienic and ensures a familiar feel.
- Helmet: more hygienic than a rental and usually not included in the base price anyway.
- GPS mount: most rental bikes have standard bar mounts, but confirm the interface beforehand.
- Power meter: pedal-based meters (Garmin Rally, Favero Assioma) transfer in minutes. Crank or spider-based meters (Quarq, 4iiii, Stages) require matching crank length and interface, so check the bike spec before you travel.

The golden rule: anything that touches your body or affects your data, bring it yourself.

Crash damage is assessed against the shop's damage policy you agreed to at booking. Photographing the bike at pickup and after the incident makes the assessment cleaner for both sides.

What is the cancellation policy?

Each shop sets its own cancellation policy, which is shown on your booking confirmation and on the booking summary page before you submit. Most partner shops allow free cancellation up to a certain number of days before pickup, with partial or full charges closer to the date. We focus exclusively on performance bikes: road bikes, gravel bikes, and triathlon bikes. Every listing specifies the exact model, groupset (e.g. Shimano Di2 vs mechanical), frame size, and available components. No e-bikes, no mountain bikes, no city bikes. Just performance cycling.

Are pedals included with the rental?

Pedals are usually not included by default. Most performance cyclists bring their own pedals (and shoes) so they have a familiar cleat system and a clean fit. Many shops can supply pedals on request, often as an optional add-on. If you need pedals, mention the cleat system you use (Look, Shimano SPD-SL, Speedplay, etc.) in the booking message.

Yes. All shops on Ride Out Club speak English at a level sufficient to handle the rental and any technical questions. Many shops in international cycling destinations (Mallorca, Girona, Dolomites) also speak German, French, Spanish, or Italian. The languages each shop offers are listed on the booking confirmation.

How are the rental bikes maintained?

Every partner shop services bikes between rentals: full inspection, drivetrain clean and lube, brake check, tyre pressure, and any wear part replacement (cables, pads, chains) on a regular cycle. We only onboard shops with a clear maintenance routine, and we ask for service photos during onboarding. If something does not feel right at pickup, the shop will swap the bike or fix it on the spot.

Can I have the bike delivered to my hotel?

Some partner shops offer hotel delivery and pickup, especially in tourist-heavy destinations. The fee and area covered vary by shop. If delivery is offered, you will see it as an option on the booking page; otherwise, you collect the bike at the shop. If you would like delivery from a shop that does not list it, just ask in the booking message and we will check.

Is Ride Out Club available in German?
